Do you know what Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos have in common? The same twenty-four hours in a day that you have. What makes the difference is what you do with that time and how you choose to spend it.
If you're seeking a promotion or want to manage your workload more effectively, read on. This right here will give you some tips on how to increase productivity and stay laser-focused.
Write it down: To-do lists are mandatory for increasing productivity. They get you organ
ized. They allow you to see where your focus should go every day and they give you a sense of accomplishment when you tick an item off the list. Always ensure to create a to-do list each night for the upcoming day to have a clear image of what needs to be done. This way, you won't spend much time in the morning trying to decide what tasks need to be done first. Remember, only important items should be included in the list so it doesn't leave you anxious in the morning or
frustrated in the evening when you have only a few items ticked off.
Stop multitasking; it's unhealthy: Hol'up! I understand that sometimes, being able to multitask is a must-have skill everyone should accomplish to become successful. But, the truth is, multitasking is a productivity killer. It is your brain switching very fast from one task to another and this results in a decrease in your productivity. Studies show it also lowers IQ so stop it NOW! Focus on one task at a time and give it 100%.
Minimize distractions: To be able to focus on one task at a time, you need to minimize distractions. You don’t need to answer all of your emails or phone calls right away. Unless of course, that’s your job. Turn those notifications off, stop checking Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts every twenty minutes and put your phone on the “Do Not Disturb” mode while working. You’ll be amazed at how much you can get done when you are fully focused. Let your friends, family, and colleagues know about this and tell them not to disrupt you until you finish your task. After all, that “urgent 2k” will not make itself.
Embrace technology: Don't be afraid to use every app and add-on necessary to
get your productivity score higher. Track the amount of time spent on each task, create schedules, and set up reminders and work-related notifications. Instead of writing that to-do list on a paper that is easy to misplace, put it on your phone or desktop. Make sure all these resources you have are at the tip of your finger. Part of embracing technology is also investing in a good ergonomic chair. Especially in this era of remote jobs, you need to ditch your bed and sit comfortably in an ergonomic chair if you’re going to get any work done. It has armrests that can be adjusted up and down, front and back, sideways and rotated inwards and outwards. Sitting comfortably can help improve your focus and productivity.
Take care of yourself: Maybe you have been inclined to think that productivity is just about scheduling and sticking to a plan to be efficient in your work but there’s more to it than that. You must invest in all aspects of your life to be productive. Work out, be mindful of what you eat, and get enough sleep so you will feel energized and motivated to work towards your goals. Being productive means living a balanced life, taking regular breaks from work, and staying healthy and happy.
And that’s it. We have done our best by putting together this list to help you become a more productive and successful version of yourself.
